Membership policy

IACA membership is open to any current or former resident of Indiana who is at least 18 years old. Our members, who span all walks of life, include Hoosiers who are both of Chinese and non-Chinese descent, and both immigrant and U.S.-born. All we ask is that our members have an interest in celebrating Chinese culture and are willing to help promote this cultural awareness in the Indianapolis community.

Membership is free and requires submitting a brief application to IACA for approval, which is available on the Get Involved page of our website.

Below are profiles featuring recent updates about a few of our members.

Charles Yang: documenting the globe, one photo at a time

Charles Yang has been a resident of Indianapolis for the last two decades and is the newest member of the IACA Council. He recently took early retirement in order to pursue his life-long passion in the art of socio-cultural and travel street photography.

As a teenager, he was given his father’s old camera, which started his love of photography. Since then, he has drifted across the globe from Hong Kong to the U.K., Canada, USA, and China for education, professional work, as well as continued nomadic exploration.

Though Charles’ eyesight has never been good, he is particularly sensitive to the shade and illumination of the subjects he photographs. His photos aim to draw the audience deep into his world of visual narratives.
